OSLUG birthday!

This Friday OSLUG (as we now know it) is three years old! To celebrate, we'll be handing out the fancy new shirts and eating a penguin shaped cake at our next hacking social. Good times.

Who: Students and anyone that needs to pick-up a shirt
What: OSLUG's 3rd birthday
Where: Penguins Nest, Dearborn 401
When: Tuesday, 2/27, 6pm
Why: Because these things are worth celebrating!

If you have any other ideas of activities to help celebrate this monumental occasion, please speak up!

Also, for the trivia nuts out there -- here is the original thread, which kicked off the current OSLUG back in '04. It's a fun reminder of our shaky beginning. :)

Western Family steps up with Google

Hacking socials are now supported by Western Family along with Google. If you are not familiar with Western Family, they are a "store brand" for independent retailers. This is a really cool donation since it supports our local independent grocery store and our LUG!!

What can we do with their donation? Well, about 2 trips (enough to last us to ~10 meetings) of goodies like this:

woohoo

Thank you Western Family!!!

First hacking social of W07!

This Tuesday (1/9) we will be starting '07 off right. We'll have a workshop from 6:00pm-7pm about Mediawiki (the software that powers wikipedia).

Who: Students interested in learning how to use mediawiki and wikipedia
What: Mediawiki/Wikipedia overview
Where: Penguins Nest, Dearborn 401
When: Tuesday, Jan 9th, 6pm-7pm
Why: More knowledge + pizza

As an extra bonus, the LUG room is now painted ... this would be a good time to check it out.
