CONSTITUTION
Oregon State Linux Users Group
Article I
Name
The name of this organization shall be the Oregon State Linux Users Group.
Article II
Purpose
The purposes of this association are to provide an opportunity for Linux users to socialize, to provide a forum for sharing Linux information, and to provide a resource to help new Linux users.
Article III
Members
Section 1.
Active Members shall be enrolled students at Oregon State University and have attended one meeting in the last 12 months.
Section 2.
Associate members shall be faculty, staff, or others interested in Linux.
Section 3.
Virtual Members shall be those subscribing to Oregon State Linux User Group's electronic mailing list, but have not physically attended a meeting in the last 12 months.
Section 4.
All voting members and officers of Oregon State Linux Users Group must be "regularly admitted" students at Oregon State University.
Section 5.
Membership shall not be denied to any student on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, disabled veteran or Vietnam-era veteran status (except for those sex qualifications directly relevant to the organizational purpose).

Artical IV
Officers
Section 1.
The officers of the association shall be President and Secretary. These officers shall perform the duties prescribed by the constitution and by-laws and by the parliamentary authority adopted by the association.
Section 2.
Officers shall be nominated and elected once in the spring quarter of each year. Election shall be by secret ballot and the candidates receiving the most votes shall be named to their respective offices.
Section 3.
Officers shall be elected to serve for one year or until their successors are elected, and their terms of office shall begin at the close of the meeting at which they are elected.
Section 4.
Vacancies in offices shall be filled by nomination and voting of a quorum of active members.
Section 5.
Officers shall have earned at least 6 hours of credit in their most recently completed term. This requirement does not apply to first-term freshmen or first-term transfer students. !required
Section 6.
Officers shall be registered for at least 6 hours currently. !required
Section 7.
Officers shall not be on disciplinary probation. !required
Section 8.
Officers shall have a minimum cumalative GPA of 2.00 and not have been on probation for the most recently completed term prior to the term of election. !required
Section 9.
A graduate student may be a "regularly admitted" student and meet the same requirements as an undergraduate student with the exception that full-time status shall be a minimum of five (5) credits with a GPA of 3.00. !required
Article V
Meetings
Section 1.
Oregon State Linux Users Group shall hold monthly meetings as set by the by-laws or called by the President.
Section 2.
Meetings shall be announced on the electronic mailing list one week prior to the meeting.
Section 3.
Thirty-three percent (33%) of the members of Oregon State Linux Users Group shall constitute a quorum.
Article VI
Activites
Oregon State Linux Users Group shall hold monthly meetings, host an electronic mailing list, and sponsor other activites to promote the use of Linux in the Oregon State University Community.
Article VII
Committees
Section 1.
The Executive Committee shall include the officers of the association. They shall supervise affairs of the association between its business meetings, make recommendations to the association and perform other duties as specified in the constitution and by-laws. The Executive Committee shall be subject to the orders of the association and none of its acts shall conflict with actions taken by the association.
Section 2.
Other committees, standing or special, shall be appointed by the President as the association or the Executive Committee deem necessary to carry on the work of the association.
Article VIII
Advisor
One or more advisors shall be elected each year in the same manner as the association's officers. Responsibilities shall be those assigned by Oregon State University's Student Conduct Regulations.
Article IX
Parliamentary Authority
The rules contained in the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern the association in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the constitution, by-laws and special rules of order the association may adopt.
Article X
This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the association by three-fifths vote, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous regular meeting. All amendments must be approved by the Student Activities Committee.
