So I'm a geek no matter how little I admit it, The other day the bus driver just randomly asked me about Mac OS X an I don't even know how he found out I knew so much about Macintosh.

I currently run 3 boxes:

  • Compaq Presario 5000 Series
    • This is my Home Theater PC, myHTPC, were I record all my TV shows and can view them and do all kinds of Home Theater Integration. Ask me about it I love to talk about it and just tell me when you've had enough and that I should shut up.
    • Specs:
      • 667 Mhz (Slower then it probably should be)
      • 256 MB RAM
      • 40 GB HD (Video Files are transfered to a different system)
      • PVR-250 (a common TV Tuner that includes mpeg encoding a must for such a slow processor)
  • HP Pavilion Laptop
    • I'm running a dual boot on this machine, Ubuntu and Windows XP. I take this too school for my engineering and at some point plan to have mythtv installed on it so I can have wireless TV.
    • Specs:
      • 3 Ghz
      • 768 MB RAM
      • 40 GB HD
      • Widescreen (Support isn't standard yet what a pain, but other then that it's handy)
  • PowerMac G4
    • I run Mac OS X on this machine along with X11 to run unix programs with darwin ports yippy. I also use this machine to take in my recorded TV shows and reformat them into a malualble format for FCE.
    • Specs:
      • 800 Mhz
      • 768 MB RAM
      • 120 GB HD, 40 GB HD
      • Dual monitors one 17" and the other 15"
  • Powerbook G4
    • This machine isn't currently running it just sits on my desk but I'm contemplating on if I should use it as a server. It came from Reed College the abusers of computers, when I received it I'm not sure what was holding it all in one peice other then the pop, food, and sticky stuff probably glue.
    • Specs:
      • 500 Mhz
      • 128 MB RAM
      • 20 GB HD
      • 15" Widescreen (Better support on macs)
